I don’t feel the need to write up a synopsis of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. It’s been read by nearly everyone, hasn’t it? And besides, I believe a series should be read in order. So don’t pick up this, book 5, without having read the preceding books first.
I’m not sure what I think about this one yet. At this point, I’m a bit disappointed, though. Goblet of Fire was so good. This one felt, to me, like it slipped a bit from that standard.
It was more obvious. There were few lines I wish had been followed up. And the end toward which this whole book built felt quite anticlimactic to this reader.
Still, it’s well written. It’s a good story, on the whole.
I think I’ll pick up a book from a different world before venturing back to Harry Potter in book 6.
My brief thoughts on previous books in the series.
