Lent 37: Refugees

True Grit: Women Taking On the World, for God's Sake

Displaced and marginalized women are at particularly high risk of exploitation and domestic abuse. However, in many refugee communities around the world, violence to women often goes ignored by civil authorities. The inaction is justified as ‘respecting cultural differences.’ As long as male abusers are protected under the guise of political correctness, women do not have anywhere to turn.

  1. I’ve actually witnessed this and it’s such a sad reality…:O/

  2. As much as I am for cultural diversity, violence against women is not a “cultural difference” that I will ever be able to respect.

What do you think? I'd love to know.
