Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-Thon

deweys-readathonbuttonIf you’re wondering what I’m up to today, or this weekend, for that matter, I’ll be practically glued to my laptop, but I won’t be posting much here (I may attempt a post or two, though).

Tomorrow morning, bright and early, Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-Thon starts.

Although I don’t have a stack of books I plan to dig into, I have been thinking about my snack and beverage choices; this is my third read-a-thon (the fourth total), so I know I want lots of variety in food and drink.

I’ve got coffee (caffeinated and decaffeinated), plus tons of tea choices, from English Breakfast (caff and decaf) to Mango Tango and Tazo’s Passion (I love me some purple tea!). I’m still debating on if I should ask my husband to pick up some soda for me.

Good luck to all participants, whether readers or cheerleaders! Hope you have lots of fun.

  1. Make sure to add some water to that! I see a lot of caffeine! =) Good luck tomorrow. I can’t wait to see what you’re reading.

    • Oh, duh! I didn’t even think to mention water, since that’s my all day, every day standby! Yes, I’ll be drinking lots of water. And I’ll certainly be mindful of my caffeine intake. Don’t want to overdo that, yuck.

  2. This is my first event, so I’m really excited. I hope to read some along the day, but I’ll be live at 9:30 for at least six to seven hours of straight reading and posting. Good luck, all!

  3. This is my second time and it looks like you have the right attitude…and beverage choices. I have an idea of what I’m reading, but I found out last time that I strayed from my pre-made list quite a bit – so making one didn’t seem like a good idea.

However, I am still printing out a reading log I made in Excel to at least keep track of what I’ve read and how many pages.

As for the bare essentials, I went to the story yesterday and got some South Beach snack bars. I’ll be doing a turkey breast tonight to slice up and have ready for sandwichs.

Not so much for me, but the boys as they will be on their own until Sunday. Which of course is the day we are going to the baseball game where I plan to pass out around the third inning hoping no one will be bothered by my snoring. Luckily we are going again on Monday. Hopefully in a different section. LOL

  4. Good luck and have fun! This is my first time participating, and my daughter and I are doing it together. We’ve got snacks read and a stack of books to choose from. Now I just need to stop reading blogs and go to bed. LOL 8 am will be here soon!

  5. You should put some books in the bathroom, because of all those beverage choices, you will be running in there every hour or so!!! Good luck with the reading!!!!

  6. Happy reading and have fun!

  7. I just wanted to stop by and tell you what a great job the three of you did of organizing and running this read-a-thon in Dewey’s memory! She would have been very proud of you, and very moved by the response and participation! WELL DONE!
