Books as children

“Normal people bring children into the world; we novelists bring books. We are condemned to put our whole lives into them, even though they hardly ever thank us for it. We are condemned to die in their pages and sometimes even to let our books be the ones who, in the end, will take our lives.”

—from The Angel’s Game, page 328

Note: I did verify this quotes with the final version, but I was unable to verify the page number; the page number cited is from my advance reading copy, so they may not be consistent with the page number for this quote in the final version of the book.

  1. That is a great quote!

  2. I love the quote you pulled – are there more quotes about writing in the novel?

I haven’t yet read ANGEL’S GAME, but I know a lot of people were excited about it when this translation came to the US!

What do you think? I'd love to know.
