Booking thoughts: Mark the Spot

This week’s Booking Through Thursday question, suggested by Tammy, (I haven’t participated in ages, but here I am again) is:

What items have you ever used as a bookmark? What is the most unusual item you’ve ever used or seen used?

I have a lot of bookmarks, and I love using them. I have several meaningful handmade ones, which are fun to use. Most of the time, though, I’m fond of business cards. No, not any business cards, but glossy, coated, two-sided artful business cards. I like the business card size better than most bookmark sizes. On a rare occasion, I’ll just grab whatever’s handy — be it a receipt, or a card, maybe a length of yarn, or a hair band.

I do go through phases, though. I’ll use one bookmark for 6 months or so, and then I’ll move on to another.

What do you use to mark your spot?

  1. Me too – sometimes I’ll just use whatever is at hand. But most of the time I like to match the bookmark to the book, or just use one of my old favorites.

  2. Haha nice that you pick pretty glossy business cards instead of boring ones. 🙂 Here’s my mark!

  3. I love boarding passes as bookmarks!

I use pretty much anything for a book mark!

  4. I can imagine what you mean about the size of a business card. i like postcards because of the size.

  5. I usually switch my bookmark out every time I start a new book.

  6. I will use a bookmark until I set it down and can’t find it. I will grab whatever is handy.

  7. I love using bookmarks! I think it’s great you even make your own. I have a couple of ideas how to do it myself but as of yet I haven’t moved past the idea itself.

  8. I love bookmarks, but the problem is I usually just collect it instead of using it o.0

    Here’s mine

  9. I have these colorful magnetic bookmarks that clip over the top or side of the page. I love them! There were like 25 in the small box I bought and although some have gone missing (they are quite small and I think I lost a couple while traveling) I still have most of them and they are the best bookmarks I have used. I don’t lose them as easily because I can leave it on the book while I am reading and stick the page inside the magnetic clip after I turn it. No more searching the covers and seat cushions for the bookmark I laid down while I read!

What do you think? I'd love to know.
