Happy blogiversary to me!

I’m several days late with this actual commemoration, but I think you’ll forgive me for that.

I started blogging March 15, 2007. My blog has changed and morphed (“That’s repetitive.” “And redundant.” “That’s repetitive.” “And redundant.”*) in the intervening three years, but this post will not be filled with stats and reminiscences. What is it about, then?

Well, a giveaway.

My biggest giveaway ever.

Are you excited yet??!!? πŸ™‚

(I’ll post my answers to your questions very soon.)

Three prizes, three winners

Prizes 1 and 2 each consist of: A $20 electronic gift card to the online bookseller of your choice.

Prize 3: A ball of recycled/reclaimed yarn. This is from my sizable stash; if the winner has color and/or fiber preferences, I’ll do my best.

How to enter

  • To be entered for a gift card, in the comments tell me what book you’d buy if you won.
  • To be entered for the yarn, tell me (in the comments) about the best yarn you’ve ever worked with and what you made with it.
  • Extra entries: 5 extra entries if you’re a current subscriber. Let me know in your comment if you qualify.

So, that’s it! Thanks for helping me celebrate! ETA: I’ll draw winners Thursday; that means Wednesday, March 24, 2010, is the deadline to enter.

*Gold star if you correctly identify the source of the quote above.

  1. HI Hannah! I come bearing coffee and cupcakes! Happy Blogiversary!

The book I currently have my eye on (well, one of them….) is the new Jodi Piccoult, House Rules.

And the quote I believe is from one of my favorite shows of all time, Gilmore Girls. Oh how I miss that show! πŸ™‚

  2. Congrats of your blogiversary. If I won the gift card, I would buy: Little Strange; Sarah Waters.

  3. Way to keep going with your blog! Three years is VERY impressive to me. I started subscribing via my RSS feed a few months ago and love reading your book reviews and finding new books I want to read.

If it won the gift card, I’d buy ‘The Help’ by Kathryn Stockett.

  4. Happy Blogiversary! I’d buy The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  5. Happy blogiversary to you. Three years is a long time, woo hoo!
    Congratulations!

The book I would buy is not published yet but one I can’t wait to read: The Passage by Cronin.

As far as knitting goes, well I have actually never done that.

Thank you for celebrating your anniversary in such a grand way with us

  6. Books! I could buy books non-stop; you’re asking me to choose ONE?

If I won, I would buy Waiting for Columbus. The outreach coordinator at my local big-box book store LOVES this novel, and has mentioned it to me every time I’ve spoken to her in the last two months. I JUST bought myself the hardcover of The Help; if I hadn’t, that would be my answer (I usually wait for the paperbacks, but I’d heard so many good things about it from so many people whose opinions on such things I trust, that I got it early). I would consider purchasing the latest of Gabaldon’s Outlander series, too.

    See? TOO many choices!

Happy Blogiversary! May you keep going strong!

(I have your blog in my reader – does that count as a subscription?)

  7. Happy anniversary, Hannah. Blogging for three years is a fantastic accomplishment, probably only understood by fellow bloggers. I hope you are able to keep going for many more years.

If I won a book it would be The Secret Journals of Agatha Christie. As for yarn, I have two yarns that come to mind. One is a soft merino wool I spun myself. I made a hat of it. I was so proud of that yarn. The second yarn is one I purchased in a White Horse, Yukon shop. The yarn actually came from Japan and was the softest, warmest yarn ever. I don’t remember the brand name – something like nonu?

I’m one of your subscribers. Thanks for offering a giveaway in celebration of your special day.

  8. The book I would choose is probably Stones into Schools by Martenson, or else The Help. So many good choices!
    Happy Blogiversary!

  9. Happy blogiversary! I’d buy Skippy Dies by Paul Murray – if I can resist buying it in the next few days!! Congratulations on three years of blogging – that is a fantastic acheivement! I look forward to sharing many more years with you.

  10. Happy Blogiversary – your blog is just one day older than mine!

I’ve been on a book-buying ban which I am TRYING to stick to for the next two weeks, so I’ve definitely got some pent-up demand and an exploding wish list! It’s hard to pick just one item from that list, but I’ll go with one that’s been there a little longer: A Friend of the Family, by Lauren Grodstein. I’m a subscriber to your blog.

Thanks for the great giveaway, and here’s to many more happy years of blogging!

  11. I would purchase the the book, “The Christian Atheist: Believing in God but Living as He doesn’t Exist by Craig Groesehel. This is to be released on March 23. It is published by Zondervan.

As pastor of a small rural mid-western church, I find that motivating the older congregation is very difficult. Most of them are content in the way things are and do not want change. If visitors do come, they are very welcome but nearly nothing is done for outreach. I am thinking that perhaps I could use some of the material in the book to help me get things off of dead center.

Thanks for your reviews. I get them as you post them on Facebook.

  12. Happy Blogiversary. The time goes by so quickly, doesn’t it? I think I might get Before I Fall if I won your contest. It took me a minute to think about that because there are so many that I want to read.

  13. I forgot to mention that I subscribe in Google Reader.

  14. I’d really like to read House Rules by Jodi Picoult. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the giveaway and happy blogiversary.

  15. Kathleen Dassaro

Happy Blogiversary! Congrats on three years. I hope to be so successful. If I were to win I would buy The Queen of Palmyra by Minrose Gwin (I just love that name). I already subscribe to your blog in google reader. Your were one of the first that I added back in January.

    Thank you

  16. Hello! I’m new here… (and frankly I can’t remember where I came in from. Hm…)

If I won the first prize, I would use it to buy this: http://www.amazon.com/Nightmares-Fairy-Tales-Once-Upon/dp/0943151872/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1269226469&sr=8-1 It’s my favorite series, but they don’t seem to sell it here, and I have yet to acquire a credit card.

I’m a subscriber through google connect, by the way. Thank you for the giveaway!

  17. Yes, I’m definitely subscribed! And I would buy Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon. πŸ™‚ Congrats on your blogoversary!

  18. I subscribe through RSS.

As for what book I would buy, it’s always hard to predict, but I have been doing a good job buying fewer books. I’m really looking forward to the new Pearl Cleage (on of my all-time favorite authors) novel, Til You Hear From Me, but I’ve also read so many great reviews of Angelology, a book that wasn’t on my radar at all (I blame the cover and my fickleness) until I read about it on blogs. One old favorite and one new find seem like a lovely compromise of a way to spend $20:-)

  19. Happy blogiversary!

If I won a gift card, I’d probably use it to buy Flatbreads and Flavors by Jeffrey Alford.

I’m horrible at choosing favourites, but one of the best yarns I’ve ever worked with has been Fleece Artist Sea Wool and I used it to make Cookie A’s BFF socks to give to my grandma.

  20. Happy blogiversary! If I had a gift card I’d probably get Craig Thompson’s lovely graphic novel Blankets. I’m a subscriber to your blog on Google Reader. πŸ™‚

  21. I think I’d buy Incarceron, since I want to read it again and again to savor its loveliness. But, I might change my mind three or four times in the meantime. I’m a subscriber.

  22. Happy Blogiversary! If I won the gift card I’d buy the recently released Dragon Factory by Jonathan Maberry, which I’ve been looking forward to for nearly a year.

As for the yarn… well, actually I’d probably strangle myself with it since I’m so NOT craft-inclined; perhaps it’s best I leave that for someone who can actually create something with it. πŸ˜‰

  23. Happy Blogiversary! I would love to get Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver! Thank you πŸ™‚

  24. Happy Blogivesary!! I would sing, but I’d probably hurt your ears.

I would buy either The Help or Before I Fall. Both look so good!

As for yarn, I would like a nice, lovely green. Winter has left me needing some green!

And I’m subscribed to you on Google Reader. πŸ™‚

  25. I know I missed the giveaway, but I still wanted to pop in and wish you a happy blogiversary!
