You may have seen that, over the weekend, I was working on my blog. Although a few things are still in flux, no time like the present to come see the new look!
This is by far the largest visual change I’ve made to this blog in its entire 3.5-year history.
Here are the high points:
- Other than changing the theme, I also implemented a new system of visual organization. I had the idea early this year to create a sort of label to distinguish my major types of posts. The sidebar buttons are links to these categories, and I also plan to use these labels in the individual posts. You can see this in the left sidebar, here ——>
- I now also have two different types of posts. In addition to my normal posts, I’ve added a new style of post — Asides — that will be shorter and probably more informal. I’m thinking of them as tumblr-style posts, but included in my regular site and feed. Because of this, I may begin posting a bit more frequently, but I don’t plan to overwhelm you! On WordLily.com these posts are visually distinguished from my normal posts; they have no headline, and there’s a grey bar running down the left side.
- I also — finally — signed up for Feedburner, in hopes that I can consolidate all my feeds into one. So I’d love it if you’d subscribe to my Feedburner feed, via the orange RSS button, at the top of the far right sidebar.
There are other changes as well, but you should really just check out the site for yourself! What do you think?
