Fibery Friday

Word Lily knits

I’m so behind on posting yarny reports that I don’t know where to start.

Let’s see …

I knit a pair of socks:

Monkey socks

Monkey socks

Pattern: Cookie A.’s Monkey
Yarn: Plymouth Yarn Sockin’ Sox; it was a huge headache, until I settled on this pattern. It was pooling horribly no matter what I did, otherwise.

I was glad for a pattern that combated the pooling, but the pattern got repetitive and boring very quickly. I had to force myself to make the second sock.

Alas, most of my knitting since the Monkey socks must remain secret for awhile. I think I’ll leave it at that for today.

Handknit socks make me happy!

  1. Excellent socks! That was a great pattern for the yarn. I love the color.

  2. Way to force yourself… that second sock can be so tough!

  3. I second that – I love the color…. in winter I love well knit socks like that for around the house… good ones are hard to find unless I can get to a craft show where someone makes them.

  4. I’m glad you found a pattern that worked with the yarn, and I think the combination turned out gorgeously! Well worth the boredom—which is easy for me to say, since I wasn’t the one making them. 😉

  5. Love the color and pattern of the socks. Might have been boring for you but they came out great.

  6. Yay socks, they look lovely! 🙂

  7. I wish I could knit socks! I love socks and those are darling.

  8. I was looking at the monkey pattern last night in Cookie’s book since I just finished my socks 🙂

Love that yarn you used, such rich colors.

  9. Great Monkeys! That pattern with no purls is my favorite sock pattern…aside from a plain vanilla sock. Great color too. Happy Fiber Arts Friday!

  10. Thanks for visiting my blog. I love Cookie A’s patterns, but have never knitted any of them. Your Monkeys look very nice, show the yarn colors well too.

I like them! I’ve never even attempted to knit socks, but I do admire them from other people!

  12. I love them. Great color and great pattern.

  13. I love Monkey Socks! I have a pair of Marty Monkey Socks knitted by my dear Marty. I love the yarn you used for yours. It’s amazing how the socks in that pattern look so different depending on the yarn.

    Happy Fiber Arts Friday!

  14. Very pretty lace design on your socks. I love red socks.

  15. Hooray for handknit socks!

  16. That’s a great looking pair of socks. Good job fighting off the second sock syndrome.

What do you think? I'd love to know.
